National parks, biosphere reserves and landscape reserves that have been established to enable tourism to contribute to safeguarding our natural heritage and ensuring sustainable development.
Since reunification in 1990, nature parks in Germany have faced significant
changes to their structure and purpose. Nature parks in West Germany were
traditionally developed and managed as recreational facilities, their structure
based principally around channelling and managing visitor traffic flow.
Nature parks in East Germany, however, created only since reunification,
have been developed with nature protection a key objective. As a consequence
of this, the Association of German Nature Parks (VDN), redrew their guidelines
in 1995 to reflect these changes.
FUTOUR has a wide experience of supporting structural and organisational
change in large nature and landscape reserves, and can provide expert partnership
in enabling such projects meet the needs of the future.
FUTOUR is always happy to answer your questions or offer assistance with
specific issues you may have.
